Info About Purchasing & Receiving Download Software:

When you purchase a program on this website, it will be emailed to you as a ZIP FILE attachment as soon as your order has been manually processed. Ordering is NOT automatic so there may be a slight time delay between the time you place your order and the time you receive it.

When you download the zip file that contains the program, you can open it (unzip it) by clicking on the attachment is your operating system is Windows XP or Vista. You can then SAVE the file to your hard drive or a flash drive. If your operating system is an older version of Windows (95, 98, ME or 2000), you need a utility program called WINZIP or a similar zip file extraction program that can open zip files.

HERE'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I RECEIVE YOUR ORDER

1. All orders are processed manually after notice has been received from PAYPAL that payment has been made, so there may be some delay between the time you place your order and when you receive your email download. Be patient. You will receive it, usually within a few hours or the next business day at the latest. I check my email frequently throughout the day.

2. If you are ordering a download, the program file is compiled with your registration information (name, address and other info) permanently embedded into the program (keeps everybody honest and allows me to track where my programs might end up). The program is then zipped and emailed directly to the email address YOU provided. Make sure the email address you provide is correct or you may not receive it.

IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE YOUR SOFTWARE:

Email me ASAP at: Carleysoftware email address
(NOTE: the blue button above is not a "live" email button.
You must enter the address manually to send us email. This is done to minimize SPAM.
I will resend you the program.

If you DO NOT receive the zip file I sent to you, it usually means one of several things:

* The email address you provided is incorrect.

* Your email box is FULL. If your mailbox is full of old emails and SPAM, there may not be enough room to receive your program file (typically 2 to 4 MB). You will have to delete your old mail and spam to free up space.

* Your email settings are set to BLOCK all incoming emails from people you don't know to stop SPAM (You will have to add me to your APPROVED list to receive your program).

* The download I sent you was misrouted into your SPAM folder (check your SPAM folder to see if is there).

* Your email server is blocking all incoming emails with ZIP file attachments that contain programs (this is done as a precaution to protect you against possible virus infections). This happens with many corporate email servers, and gmail email accounts. To get around this roadblock, you may have to provide me with a different email address, your home email address or a friend's email address).

GOOGLE GMAIL: As a security measure to prevent potential viruses, Gmail does not allow users to receive executable files (such as files ending in .exe) that could contain damaging executable code. Gmail does not accept these types of files, even if they are sent in a zipped (.zip, .tar, .tgz, .taz, .z, .gz) format. Any message of this type sent to your Gmail account (such as a downloadable program file) will be bounced back to the sender (me). To receive a download, you will need an email account with another email provider, or you will have to order the program on a CD, or I can attempt to fool the email filter by renaming the file extension of the program (see details below).

CORPORATE EMAIL SERVERS: These can be a real pain because many are often set to block all incoming emails with attachments, or to delete any attachments that contain ZIP files or EXE files (program files such as the one you just ordered). This is done to stop spam and viruses from invading your company computer system, but it also makes it impossible to deliver your order to your corporate email account. If this is the case, I will need another email address (such as your home email address) where I can email your order, or I can attempt to fool your email filter by renaming the file extension (see below).
U.S. MILITARY EMAIL SERVERS: Do NOT allow any incoming file attachments. You will have to give me a different email address is you want to receive your download via email.

Getting Part the Gmail Spam Blocker:

There are two ways to get around this:

1. I can email the program file to another email address you might have that does not block EXE attachments (yahoo, MSN, AOL, etc.)
NOTE: This is the easiest solution to a blocked download and eliminate the need for everything below.

or
2. I can rename the program file extension to fool the filter.

Say you ordered a Sensor Guide download and it was blocked by your email server.

Before sending you the file, I can rename the Sensor_Guide.EXE file to Sensor_Guide.AAA to fool the filter. The file extension EXE that identifies it as an executable program is now changed to AAA. This will fool the filter BUT it also means you have to take the extra step of renaming it back to EXE again after you download and open the zip file attachment.

Once you have opened the zip file, the Sensor_Guide.AAA program must be renamed before it will run. If you click on the file without renaming it nothing will happen because your PC does not know what to do with it.

The file extension (AAA) must be renamed EXE for the program to run.

(Example: Sensor_Guide.AAA becomes Sensor_Guide.EXE)

To rename the file extension:

Click on START, then PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES, then WINDOWS EXPLORER.

Making Extensions Display in Windows XP

In Windows XP open the folder where you downloaded the file (probably MyDocuments or your Desktop). Then...

1. Select Tools | Folder Options
2. Select the View Tab and then
3. Scroll down to the entry that says "Hide file extensions for known file types" and make certain it's not checked.

4. Click on the Apply To All Folders button and then close the window.

Making Extensions Display in Windows Vista

The procedure for making file extensions show up in Vista is similar to that for Windows XP.

Open any Windows Explorer window (e.g., Documents or any other). Then . . .

1. Click on the Organize button.
2. Select the Folder and Search Options menu item.
3. Take the View Tab and scroll down the list to the Hide extensions for known file types item and uncheck it.

While you are there consider marking the Show hidden files and folders item if you are comfortable with that. There are other options there as well if you care to change how Windows displays files and folders.

OKAY, Now you can RIGHT CLICK on the program name, then choose RENAME on the menu that appears.

Rename the program from Sensor_Guide.AAA back to Sensor_Guide.EXE

Now double-click on the program name to launch it.

Yes, all this is a royal pain in the ass. But don't blame me. Blame all the hackers and spammers who have flooded the internet with spam and viruses. That's why we have mail filters and anti-virus software.

MAILING YOU A CD

If all else fails, I will mail you the program on a CD at NO EXTRA COST.

All CDs are mailed FIRST CLASS, usually the same day or next business day the order is received.

If a CD is damaged in the mail, it will be replaced free of charge for up to 30 days after the date of purchase.

SORRY, NO REFUNDS on software.

INFO ABOUT DOWNLOADING ZIP FILES:
Download programs are emailed as ZIP file attachments. A ZIP file is a compressed file that takes less time to send and receive.

When you receive your order, download the zip file to your computer. If you have Windows XP or Vista, you can click on the file attachment to open it. If you have an older Windows system (95, 98 or 2000), you will need Winzip or a similar utility program to open the zip file.

VIRUS CONCERNS:
All outgoing programs are fully scanned by Yahoo Norton Anti-virus to protect you against any risk of receiving a virus. The computers I use to create all programs are also completely isolated from the internet and are virus-software protected. I have NEVER had a problem with viruses and neither should you if you use anti-virus software and keep it up-to-date.
